Yeah, it's a PDF, but here.... maybe I'll paste in the parts that I
want to point out. I got verification from Acqess today that the
plans are still underway to put out a second class of tablet
devices. Instead of the Genus/Cirrus/Altus type like I have,
described thusly:

"Weighing in at approximately six pounds and measuring just 14 " x
10 " x 1.6 ",the Windows-based Cirrus is the first Aqcess Personal
Computing Tablet with a Pentium II 400 MHz processor. The Cirrus
is equipped with a 12GB hard drive,128MB of memory (upgradeable to
256MB),56K modem and a network card."

(note exaggerations: my Qbe is almost exactly seven pounds without
keyboard, mouse, docking stand or power supply, and it is 2.25
inches thick at it's thickest point, tapering down to about 1.25
inches at the bottom.)

Acqess will be releasing a smaller, lighter model:

"EDITORIAL NOTE:Aqcess will soon be launching the Qbe Stratus,an 11
" x 9 " x 1.5 " three--pound Portable Computing Tablet.It will
boast
many of the features incorporated into the Qbe Cirrus, but carry an
MSRP of approximately $1,500.Product is expected to ship in
September."

Don't know what "many of the features" will really mean. There
are a
lot of features on the Qbe I'd give up, but it sounds like a very
nice device. There are no more details on the web site, but they may
well have learned something about giving too much information too
early on from the release of their first line.

Oh, in the confirmation I received from Acqess, they said that the
new device would be closer to four pounds. Still an improvement.
Hopefully it'll still have room for a DVD-ROM and USB, maybe even
firewire and IRDA, but I really don't need a mag card reader and I
probably can live without the PCMCIA slots too, although I bet
there's a ton of people to disagree with me on that.

Ah well. We'll see.
