What works pretty well for me in this capacity is the Acqess Qbe, which I don't recall if I've shown off to you. At home it sits collecting dust, but it's nice for travelling or going on-site. One of the nice advantages on-site is that it does have a nice wow-factor. Hopefully it impresses the client. When I was doing the work at Sega I'd just leave one of my IBM Model M Spacesaver keyboards in the cubicle they assigned me and take the unit itself back and forth to the office. It comes with a keyboard that's really good for a mini portable keyboard, but it leaves a bit to be desired as the only means of keying. It's really good where space is an issue, since the desk footprint is so low. I have some mixed feelings about the form factor. Mostly I like it, and I generally like being able to see more lines of code rather than wider lines of code. Sometimes horizontal scrolling can be a pain, though. At 7.5 pounds, it's not ideal for carrying around and tapping into. This sort of defines the difference between "portable" and "transportable" for me. I generally don't need a portable computer to carry around with me every minute of the day (although I'd love to have such a thing), I really need something that works out well at a desk. http://www.qbenet.com/indexflash.htm for the stats and stuff http://www.splicer.com/images/palmpix/000181.jpg for the footprint on my coffetable.
